2024-2025 Shannon Brown Memorial Grant Award
The Education Foundation of Forest Grove is proud to announce that Steven Barnard, CALC, FGHS is this year’s recipient of the Shannon Brown EFFG Teacher Grant Award. Barnard applied to start a Victory Garden at the Community Alternative Learning Center (CALC), FGHS.
The Garden will be used in the coming years by students to support Physical Education, Environmental Science, Health and Social Science and applied math as well as Gardening and Photography electives. Seasonally harvested foods will augment our school lunch program and offer an opportunity to donate additional produce, according to Barnard.
Shannon Brown, a Forest Grove District teacher, was instrumental in maintaining a school garden at Dilley Elementary School. A memorial marker will be placed in her honor.
